Yesterday we were lucky enough to sit in on a listening session for Love Never Dies as, along with other members of the Really Useful Group and others working on the show campaign, we were treated to a run-through of the entire concept album for the show. Andrew introduced the session and gave us a bit of background to Love Never Dies before the lights in the Really Useful Group’s office boardroom were dimmed and the 50 of us sitting there were transported to Coney Island circa the early 1900’s…
For most of us, this was the first time we’d heard any of the music – and it was, as you’d expect, amazing. Atmospheric and haunting, beautiful and heartbreaking, with fabulous lyrics and gorgeous melodies it really brought home to those of us working on the show exactly how exciting this is going to be. We can’t give away titles (unfortunately) but I had 2 real personal favourites – amazing stand-out tracks you can imagine going on to become the show’s ‘The Phantom of the Opera.’
A brief slide-show took us through the storyline but as the music swelled, it was so powerful that the visual element was almost uneccessary: this music definitely tells the story. But, of course, we’re all still as desperate as anyone to see it onstage! March 2010 can’t come soon enough…

I am really sure that the music together with all the other production elements will make this musical another landmark for Andrew and in the West End.

Oh my god! That is really unfair
I have heard a few of the songs, but not many.
I’ve fallen in love with ‘Love Never Dies’ (the song) and I have been singing it all the time!
My dream is to play Christine in Phantom Of The Opera, and now maybe Love Never Dies, too?
Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber – you truly are a musical genius.
I can’t wait to see Love Never Dies :’)
